Week 1 down and starting Week 2

Week one of my project is done and I have great news!  I lost those two pounds so I reached my goal for week 1!

Anyone out there doing this with me?  If so, what kind of progress did you make?

Christmas is next week!  Is everyone ready?  I'm not, not by a long shot but this is the norm for me every year so it's not stressful to me.

I want to make my helper a really cool cover for her clothes while she is here working.  Does anyone know where I can get free patterns for one?  My helper Hilda gets stuff all over her clothes and she asked me not to make her wear a uniform.  If I can find some funky fabric I think she wouldn't mind wearing a cover just while she's here.  Any ideas would help!

So long for now!

A New Goal

So I stopped making New Year's resolutions because I just break them.  How many of us do this to ourselves every year?  Most people that I know do this.....you know who you are! :)

Anyway, I've decided to set a new goal for myself since I am now down in the land of yummy food that sticks to your butt after you eat it!

I am typing out my goal for the world to read....I am going to give myself 11 weeks to lose 22 lbs.  That's right, 11 weeks.  That's an average of two pounds per week which is very doable without causing myself pain or depriving myself of food with flavor!

Anyone want to join me?  I'll leave that question out there for anyone to answer.  We can support each other in the process if you so choose to join me in my quest for a smaller butt!

Anyway, I start on Monday, December 6th.  Yes, right in the midst of decadent Christmas goody time.  Luckily I don't live near my mother-in-law who makes the b..e..s..t goodies so it shouldn't be as difficult.  One can still have a little treat if one is careful about how much treat goes in and how many times a treat is enjoyed without killing the goal dead in it's tracks!!!

Does anyone else have a goal?  I told you mine, now you tell me yours! ;)

Thanksgiving in Mexico

If you've been following, you know that I prepared Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and we had some friends of ours over.  Dinner was a huge hit!  Everyone ate a lot and the kids played with no tears.  That's saying something!

The turkey turned out great!

We all had so much fun eating and laughing!

Now, time to start thinking of Christmas!  Family, friends, food and gifts!  This is when it's really hard being so far away!

Keep in touch and see you round the blog!!

Happy Thanksgiving and all that stuff......

Yes, Happy Thanksgiving even though it doesn't feel like Thanksgiving here!

I came up with an incredible menu for our dinner on Sunday but had to seriously revise it when I couldn't find half of the ingredients that I needed.  So much for hoping that Superama would have everything since they are owned by Walmart!  I guess an Okie can only dream of greenbean casserole...but wait!  I found a recipe to make the french fried onions!  I'll let you know how that goes!

On another note...we bought our Christmas tree last night.  It's gorgeous and live!  We left our water base in storage in FL so now we have some device that the guys from Sam's rigged up and now there is water on the hardwood floors!  Yikes, better find some way to keep the water in and the floors dry.  Otherwise we will be installing new floors.  No thanks!

I know, there is a pumpkin in the background!  We will put away all of the fall decorations and pull out the Christmas decorations on Saturday.  We'll make the tree pretty on Sunday!  I'll post another picture after it's all decked out!

Till then,

Football and Other Mysterious Questions

How is it that my husband can seem to find Florida games streaming online but I can't find one OU game online?

I'm also blasting out this question...Has anyone seen a Silhouette cutter in action?  I really want either a Cricut or a Silhouette cutter.  The Cricut is very expensive and then you have to buy all of these cartridges so you can use the thing.  The Silhouette is cheaper and there is software for your images or you download individual images for $0.19 each.  Hmmmm.......wonder if my hints will soak into my husbands head?

Anyway, has anyone tried the recipe for the Thanksgiving Cupcakes?  Let me know!!

What to do first?

I am making a list! No, I'm not checking it twice, not yet anyway! :) There are so many things I want to do but I'm perplexed as to where to start.

I need to organize, organize, organize!!

My closet, the pantry, my craft room...the list goes on.

Oh, on a different note. I found an amazing recipe that I want to share with you! It sounds so yummy and I can't wait to make them. Since it came from another blog, I have to give credit where it's due, Make it and Love it! I have followed this blog for a while and have made several of the projects from it. I hope you make this recipe and enjoy it! Let me know if you do!

It's almost Thanksgiving!!

So I looked at my calendar yesterday and almost fell over! It's already November 12th and I have to figure out what to do for turkey day! We will be in Mexico so I'm cooking the whole meal for my 4 person family. We have friends who are from Peru but moved here from Canada so maybe they would like the feast? Who doesn't like turkey?

Anyway, the big question is....will I be able to find all of the ingredients? I'll probably have to go to one of the local mercados around here and when I do, I'll take my camera. The mercados are crazy! Loud music, lots of people and tons of vendors. I loved the one that I've been to so far but I have to go with my driver Allan because I don't speak enough Spanish to haggle with the vendors!

I'll post pictures after we've been to the "grande" mercado! Wish me luck!
Until next time....

Kids

Let me start this out by saying, I love my kids. However, what is up with bed time? Lena has started crying when I go to put her in bed and Sean just won't go to bed. I'm really hoping it's just a phase! I'm not sure how much of this I can stand. My patience is being pushed to it's limit. Breath in, breath out....

I'm finally starting to get the hang of Spanish. A friend of mine and his wife are teaching me Spanish during the kids nap time and in the evening after the kids finally go to sleep. I can not express my thanks to them for their efforts in getting this gringa as prepared as possible for my Mexico adventure.

On the Mexican front, apartment hunting Brian will go. He's seen several and has several more to check out. So far all of the pictures that I've seen, the apartments have been very nice.

Well, my baby turns one on Friday. I can't believe it's been a year already. Man, time flies! My next post will be all about her birthday party!

Till then...

Girly stuff

I received the most adorable thing in the mail today! My friend owns a business in OKC, OK called Hissyfits. Make sure you check them out on Facebook and at their website www.hissyfits.net. She sent a pink pettiskirt for my soon to be one year old daughter to wear for her princess birthday party. I adjusted the waist and put it on her and OMG....I can not express just how cute she looked! As soon as we've taken pictures, I'll post them.
On another front, packing is going. We cleaned out the attic today so all of our Christmas decorations are either in storage or ready for the move. Our pink flamingo "reindeer" didn't make the cut so they had to go to storage. For those of you who are wondering what pink flamingo reindeer are, here is a picture.

Well, that's pretty much it for now.

It's a...blog post!

Well, I decided to start a blog. Why not?! I've seen tons of really cool blogs out there from other moms to working ladies living abroad. I have not, however, found a blog from a stay-at-home mom living abroad. So, here it is. I hope you get a laugh out of the things that I'll write about as well as some tips about travel, sewing, cooking or whatever else decides to tumble out of my brain! Enjoy!
